Hi, although I was not at school on wednesday, I do agree that textbooks are now more user-friendly. Students can now benefit from the great improvement that has been made, getting a relief from only black and white text. This in turn can help to motivate them and create a greater interest in the in the subject areas.

Well I think that textbooks we have in this 21st Century are better that the textbooks they have before, it is not only relief from black and white. They are more engaging and inviting especially for the struggle readers. They have more pictures than prints and colorful especially in the lower grades which was not the same as before. The text organization now are very good . I like them.

We have been stating that the textbook in our time whislt we were at school were black and white, lacking colouring pictures etc. Could it be that during our era technology did not permit the use of coloured prints? I mean let us all be realistic here. We all went to primary school during the 90's and for some even the 80's. But as we have seen, the publishers have kept abreast with technology and are producing the books we are seen today.

I must agree with those of you who stated that the text books nowadays are better organized than the text books used before. In the text book I examined, the pictures were very colourful, vivid and captivating. I must acknowledge the font size and style is also very appealing. The text book also included short poems, quizzes and activities for students. However, I would like to agree with Sara on the issue of publishers keeping up with technology. I believe that technology has brought about alot of change in our education system today. This has made persons realize the demands of our students today as utilize this technology to enhance learning.

My classmates have made some essential points which i was thinking of. i am totally in agreement with all the comments. I especially like the comment made by indi where she said that the information in the text is simple. That is so true, because the language the authors used back then was not reader friendly but now the students can better understand it. They can relate to it by using the various features. The authors right now have paid particular attention to the concerns of teachers and have taken their concerns into consideration by preparing textbooks that would motivate students to want to read and learn. Kudos to them.

Yes, my friends it is true when you say text are very well presented . they are reader friendly and always has example which further clarifies unclear stsements/ideas.It is important for us teacher to encourage student to use textbooks by showing/telling them the benefits of using it as early as possible. I was not taught the importance of using textbooks and so i never liked it up to this day it is difficult for me to read a textbook. To me it is boring. Please teachers let us not let this happen to our students. Let us teach them to use love and appreciated the textbooks for their many advantages.

Hello everyone. Primary school textbooks are indeed better organised. The way they are currently presented is more student friendly, interactive and eye catching.Lets take for example the grade five science textbook. Every chapter began with the chapter number enclosed in a picture that was some how connected with what students would be learning( for the concept weight, there was a picture of a scale. However as miss polius pointed out, students need to be taught how to use these features to help them better understand the text.Without the knowledge of how to use the bolded words, the comic strips, the pictures and the advance organisers, students will not be able to benefit from the great improvement that was made.

The use of more pictures for visual learners is required, especially colored pictures. I think that black and white is not very appealing and exciting.
